We successfully delivered an interesting application to the customer to control the position of the suction dredger using GPS coordinates. The suction dredger pontoon is anchored diagonally by four cables to fixed points on the shore or on the water surface. The points are accurately located using a GPS locator. Forward, backward and sideways movement on the surface is provided by four handling winches located on the deck. The cable drum is driven by a servo drive with gearbox.

During mining, the suction dredger moves automatically forward and extracts material from the bottom. The movement of the dredger is controlled by a model calculation of the vessel’s trajectory within a coordination system of 4 fixed anchor points and 4 drum winches.
