Panasonic TOUGHBOOK G3 MK1: Fully Rugged 10.1″ Tablet for Field Workers

The Panasonic TOUGHBOOK G3 MK1 is a compact rugged tablet designed for work in the field, in vehicles and other places in demanding environments. The FZ-G3AZ00KB4 configuration combines an Intel® Core™ Ultra 5 processor, 16 GB of RAM, 512 GB NVMe SSD, 4G/LTE mobile connection, GPS and modern Wi-Fi 7 wireless connectivity.

With a sunlight-readable display, glove-friendly operation, robust construction and Pass Through interface, this variant is suitable for service technicians, logistics, utilities, transport, emergency services and other mobile applications.

Field display

The 10.1″ WUXGA display with a resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels offers a brightness of up to 1000 cd/m² and is designed for good readability even in strong ambient light. The capacitive touch layer supports control with up to ten fingers, work with gloves and operation with a digitizer pen.

Five programmable buttons allow you to assign up to ten functions called up with a short and long press, so the user can quickly launch work applications or frequently used functions.

Mobile connectivity and positioning

The FZ-G3AZ00KB4 configuration is equipped with a 4G/LTE modem with SIM and eSIM support and GPS. Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4 are also available for wireless communication.

Gigabit Ethernet, two Thunderbolt 4 ports with USB-C connectors and one USB 3.2 Type-A port provide network and peripheral connections.

The configuration also includes Pass Through for external antennas, which is especially useful when installing the tablet in a vehicle or docking station.

Performance and security

The tablet uses an Intel® Core™ Ultra 5 335 vPro processor, 16 GB LPDDR5x RAM and an easily removable 512 GB OPAL NVMe SSD.

The front-facing 5MP camera with infrared sensor supports Windows Hello login and is equipped with a privacy cover. The rear-facing 13MP camera with autofocus and LED flash allows for taking work photo documentation.

Security is complemented by TPM 2.0, Microsoft Secured-core PC and Windows Hello.

Design for harsh environments

The tablet offers IP66 protection against dust and strong jets of water and is tested according to MIL-STD-810H. The manufacturer states that it can withstand drops from a height of up to 1.8 m and an operating temperature range of -29 to +60 °C.

The stated durability parameters are based on laboratory tests under specified test conditions.

The FZ-G3AZ00KB4 configuration uses a standard 6,029 mAh / 70 Wh battery, which lasts approximately 17 hours according to MobileMark® 30. Actual battery life depends on load, settings and operating conditions.

Expansion options

The xPAK modular system allows for further customization of the device, for example with a smart card reader, NFC, fingerprint reader, 2D barcode reader, serial interface, additional USB port or second LAN port. Some modules are mutually exclusive depending on the occupancy of the top and rear expansion bays.

The optional Bridge Battery allows for the replacement of the main battery without powering down the device. An optional backlit keyboard is also available.

Optional features are not automatically included. Only the power adapter, power cable, digitizer pen and user documentation are included according to the specific delivery.
