TANK-8700-MPHX: Powerful Fanless Industrial Computer of the Next Generation
The robust and reliable TANK-8700-MPHX industrial computer combines high performance, expandability and durability in a compact fanless design. It is designed for deployment in demanding applications where long-term stability, low power consumption and wide connectivity options are required. It is ideal for automation, transportation systems and edge computing, for example.
Performance and architecture
At the heart of the device are modern AMD Ryzen™ 7000/8000 Mobile Series processors – Ryzen™ 5 8645HS, Ryzen™ 7 8845HS and Ryzen™ 9 8945HS – with up to 8 cores, 16 threads and a clock speed of up to 5.2 GHz at a TDP of 45 W. These chips provide high performance while maintaining energy-saving operation, which is ideal for continuous industrial use.
The graphics are based on the AMD RDNA™ 3 architecture, which delivers excellent performance-to-power ratio. It is also suitable for image processing and AI inference applications at the edge of the network.
The memory subsystem consists of 2× DDR5 SO-DIMM 5600 MHz, with a capacity of up to 96 GB (16 GB pre-installed by default). For data storage, there are 2× 2.5″ SATA 6Gb/s slots for SSD or HDD.
Interface and connectivity
The TANK-8700-MPHX model offers extensive connectivity options:
- Network: 2× 2.5GbE (Realtek 8125B) + 1× RJ45 via M.2 IRIS2 module
- USB: 3× USB 3.2 Gen2, 3× USB 2.0, 1× USB 4
- Serial interfaces: 2× RS-422/485 with galvanic isolation, 3× RS-232
- Digital I/O: 8bit (4 inputs / 4 outputs)
- Displays: 1× DisplayPort++, 1× HDMI™, 1× USB 4 – allowing three independent outputs
This range of connectivity ensures compatibility with various peripherals, sensors and camera systems.
Expandability
The computer is designed with an emphasis on modularity expansion. There are three M.2 slots:
- M Key (PCIe Gen4 x2) – for NVMe storage
- A Key (PCIe Gen3 x1, USB 2.0) – for Wi-Fi/Bluetooth modules
- B Key (PCIe Gen3 x1) – for storage or IEI iRIS2 module enabling remote system management (IPMI 2.0).
Depending on the configuration, two PCIe backplane variants can be selected:
- PCIe Gen4 x8 + Gen3 x4 + Gen3 x1,
- or PCIe Gen4 x8 + Gen3 x4 + PCI.
Thanks to these options, you can add, for example, AI accelerators, control cards or specific communication interfaces. For applications with higher thermal loads, you can optionally add an internal or external fan.
Power and reliability
TANK-8700-MPHX uses a 12–28 V DC power input (via DC jack or terminal block, with ACC mode support). Typical consumption of the model with Ryzen™ 9 is 72W.
Thanks to the robust aluminum chassis (dimensions 254.4 × 205 × 127.2 mm, black-gray design) and passive cooling, reliable operation is guaranteed in the temperature range of –20 °C to +60 °C.
The device meets the military standard MIL-STD-810G 514.6C-1 (vibration 5G/11 ms, 100 shocks per axis) and carries CE and FCC certifications.
The installation is designed as a wall mount.
